For Ginger Chih, photography is an important tool both to document the world and also to understand it.
She writes:
“I move into a landscape and isolate the essence of the situation or the person, then try to capture this essence on film. Almost unconsciously, I go into a meditative state, releasing my intellect. Clicking the shutter is an instinctive motion, I merge with my subject for a split second.”
She gives credit to her mentor, Morley Baer, for helping her uncover and articulate her photographic vision.
